Best Christmas Music For Nostalgia

Best Christmas Music For Nostalgia

The first known Christmas song was called “Jesus Refulsit Omnium” (“Jesus, Light of All the Nations”), written by St. Hilary of Poitier in the fourth century. There are many feelings inflicted by Christmas songs like childhood nostalgia or even feelings of love. There is also many reasoning behind certain Christmas songs like how the overall message is something you may not expect. A few of my favorite Christmas songs to listen to around the holidays are:

  • Last Christmas by WHAM! Released in 1986
  • Under the Mistletoe by Justin Bieber released in 2011
  • All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey released in 1994

I would rate Last Christmas a 5/5 stars because It’s my FAVORITE Christmas song of all time! It’s an instant classic, not only that it also gives the 80’s feel when you watch the music video. George Michael also wrote the song in his bedroom, besides using the word Christmas, there are no other elements of it being a Christmas song like reindeers of Santa. It  also didn’t reach No. 1 on the UK charts until 2021. Mistletoe in my opinion receives a rating of 4/5 stars. I wish that he released more songs like this, it’s very nostalgic but not quite a Christmas classic. He was 17 years old when he initially released the song. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and Justin also  became the first artist to record three chart-topping albums before the age of 18. My last rating is a 4.5/5 stars for All I Want for Christmas is You. It’s a classic yet sometimes overplayed and then her voice gets annoying. It stayed on the top Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks when it was first released in 1994. In December 2019 it hopped on up to the top of the Rolling Stone Top 100.
