Top 10 Christmas Movies

Kendall Mealy, Staff Writer

Nothing raises my spirits more than a Christmas movie. Whenever I think of Christmas I can’t think of anything other than good and happy memories. I have accumulated 10 Christmas movies that are in no particular order. Some of the 10 consist of Elf, A Christmas Story, and Home Alone.

#1- Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph tries to hide his “flaws” from the other reindeer so he would fit in. He learns that his differences don’t make him less important than the other reindeer. I would rate this 4/5 stars. I enjoyed that it was a cartoon and I thought it had good meaning.

#2- The Polar Express

A little boy embarks on a journey to the North Pole on the Polar Express. I would rate this a 3/5 because I feel like there wasn’t enough action in it. I do like cartoon Christmas movies so that gave it extra points.

#3- Frosty The Snowman

Frosty, the living snowman, begins his journey to the North Pole for colder climates with his new friend. The Magician follows Frosty and the little girl because he wants his hat back. I would rate this 4/5 because I like cartoon movies and I have never seen a Christmas movie with a storyline as good as this one.

#4- Daddy’s Home 2

After overcoming the difficulties of being step-dad and biological dad, Dusty and Brad have to overcome the difficulties of their fathers coming home for christmas. I would rate this movie a 5/5. I thought it was very funny, and I really enjoyed the ending of it.

#5- Home Alone

After being left at home for christmas break, Kevin had to protect his house from 2 burglars while his family is desperately trying to get back to him. I would rate this movie a 5/5. I like how smart Kevin is and all the traps the burglars fell into.

#6- How The Grinch Stole Christmas

The Grinch, with a heart filled with envy, plans to ruin Christmas in Whoville.

I would rate this movie a 4/5. I like the message that this movie sends. It shows that everyone is capable of change and that it’s better to live happy than to live sad and mean.

#7- Elf

A misfit elf, Buddy, travels to New York City to meet his biological father.

I would rate this movie a 5/5. I think that this movie is funny and light spirited. I liked the mailroom scene the best, I thought it was hilarious.

#8- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Clark’s intent for a nice family Christmas turns upside down in almost every way. I would rate this movie a 5/5. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I think it is very funny and a little bit relatable in the sense that everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.

#9- A Christmas Story

With his parents against the idea, a young boy tries to convince them and Santa that he is capable of getting a gun for Christmas. I would rate this movie a 3/5 because I think that it was unoriginal and the plot felt repetitive.

#10- A Christmas Carol

The ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, try to convince Ebenezer Scrooge to like Christmas. I would rate this a 4/5 because I enjoyed the originality of the characters but I didn’t like that the movie felt stretched out.

I think all of these movies get me into a really good mood and I get a lot of Christmas spirit watching them. I hope you consider watching these movies and maybe you will feel the same about them!
